Hotpoint’s Essential Guide to Dishwasher Symbols

Knowing how your dishwashing appliance works is key to getting the most out of your product. A dishwasher takes all the hard work out of scrubbing pans, leaving you with spotless plates and most importantly, more time! From streak-free cutlery to sparkling glasses, knowing how to decipher dishwasher symbols will ensure optimal dishwashing performance at the best setting for the load.

Understanding dishwasher symbol meanings is essential for a number of reasons. These key symbols will tell you when it is time to top up the dishwasher salt or the rinse aid and will enable you to select the best programme for your load. Using the appliance properly will maximise its performance, help conserve energy, reduce product wastage, and produce squeaky clean results.

Hotpoint Dishwasher Symbols Explained

Salt Reservoir Indicator

This icon depicting a letter S is the dishwasher salt symbol. If the light by this icon is lit, the salt is almost empty. If it is blinking, the dishwasher salt is empty, and it is time to refill.

 Rinse Aid Reservoir Indicator

This icon showing a star is the rinse aid symbol. If the indicator light is lit or blinking, the rinse aid reservoir is empty. After refilling, it may stay on for a short while.

 3D Zone Wash Option

This 3D dishwasher symbol is for the Hotpoint 3D Zone Wash option. With this feature, the powerful jets provide up to 80% more water power and a more intensive wash on the lower rack making it perfect for washing large pots or trays.

DELAY Option

This dishwasher symbol shows a h beside a clock. This indicates the DELAY function, which enables you to delay the start of the programme for between 30 minutes and 24 hours. The DELAY function cannot be set once a cycle has already begun.

Delicates Programme

This icon showing two glasses and a 45° dishwasher symbol is for the Delicates programme. This is best used for delicate items, like wine glasses and products which cannot withstand high temperatures.

Eco Programme

The 50°C Eco dishwasher symbol indicates the Eco programme. This cycle is the most efficient in terms of energy and water consumption and is best used to clean light to medium soiled crockery, glasses, and cutlery.

Rapid Programme

The dishwasher symbol of a clock with three horizontal lines indicates the Rapid programme. This cycle runs at 45°C and is most suitable for lightly soiled tableware with no tough baked on residue or staining.

Auto Intensive Programme

The icon showing 65°, A, and an image of a pot is a dishwasher symbol meaning the Auto Intensive programme. This option is best for heavily soiled tableware and cookware. An innovative sensor automatically detects how dirty the load is and adjusts the programme to best suit the load.
